Hi and welcome to Farrell Fitness.
I’m Kaitlin and if you have not yet had the chance to check out my blog be sure to check out my about me page and learn little about my blog. Here, I want to share all things health and fitness and share tips with all of you on how to lead a healthy lifestyle. Health and fitness are things I am so passionate about and I love connecting with others who share that passion.
Even in our busy everyday lives, it is so important to take care of your health through proper nutrition and physical activity. If you take care of yourself you can feel good and have the energy to work hard in all other aspects of day to day life. As a busy college student, I have found that by taking care of my health I can better focus and keep up with my busy schedule.
The troubling reality is that the rates of chronic disease such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease are incredibly high in the United States. According to data from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), 70.2% of U.S. adults are either overweight or obese. To be considered overweight is to have a body mass index of 25-30%, to be obese is to have a body mass index of 30% or higher (CDC). About 1 in every 4 Americans has diabetes (CDC). Also, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.
Our health is incredibly important. At this time the rates of chronic disease are terribly high in the U.S. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regular exercise prevents chronic disease. As the data shows, many people struggle with maintaining a healthy weight and regular physical activity can help with that as well as help improve physical and cardiovascular fitness.
With so many different diet plans, fitness plans, books, apps, and more being presented to us it can seem quite confusing as to what will truly help us reach our goals. There is so much information out there on how to lose weight and get fit. A lot of the information available is fantastic, and a lot of it is rather misleading or even false. I like to take a simple approach to health and fitness. It starts with making your number one goal to take care of your body. This means fueling your body with highly nutritious foods and following a balanced diet. Equally important is being regularly physically active. I am not an expert, but I am passionate and knowledgable about health and fitness. Through this blog, I hope to share with you some advice that I hope can help some of you in living your healthy lifestyle.
I hope to share with you some of my favorite tools to help me stay on track with my health and fitness. Tools such as the Live Strong My Plate Tracker, BMI and Calorie Calculators for you, and more. I would like to share workout ideas, as well as healthy meal ideas, and so much more.
I hope you stick around.
-Kaitlin
